Funchal is the capital and main city of the autonomous region of Madeira, on the island of Madeira, situated in the south of the country.
It has huge historical importance, because it was an important shipping center during the 15th-17th century.

But if you’re a foreigner wondering whether to move to this city – the best thing you can do is rent a place for several months – just to try it out! You won’t be sorry!
